Human Testing & Evidence
Testing level
- Level 1 — Full Hands-On Test
- Level 2 — Partial Hands-On Test (provisional — confirm after final round)
- Level 3 — Demo and Documentation Review
- Level 4 — Research-Only Evaluation
- Level 5 — Insufficient Evidence
Rationale: a complete selling-plan build was performed on a real Shopify store, but no storefront widget, checkout, live subscription, billing cycle, or customer portal has been exercised yet.
Store: Blinto Dev (account shown as sayem.blinto@gmail.com). App was already installed at capture time — the App Store listing button read “Open”, not “Install”, so the install flow itself was NOT observed.
Merchant decision question: Can a merchant configure a working Subscribe & Save selling plan on Loop without paying, and where exactly does the unpaid tier stop?
Realistic scenario tested: Build a monthly “Subscribe and Save” plan with a 10% percentage discount and map it to three snowboard products on a Shopify dev store.
What was tested — verified from reviewer screenshots, 2026-09-18
- Loop home / setup guide. Setup guide showed 0 of 4 completed, split into “Create your first subscription (0 of 2)” — create a selling plan, create a test subscription — and “Install Loop widget (0 of 2)”. Left nav: Home, Subscriptions, Analytics, Campaigns, Flows, Acquire, Grow, Retain (New), Tools & apps (New), Customer portal, Products, plus Alert center and Settings. A “Connect with Loop experts / Book a call” consultation block sits above the setup guide.
- Acquire → Selling plans empty state. Describes multiple frequencies, offers priced by frequency and orders completed, and mapping multiple products/collections to one plan. Submenu: Selling plans, Bundles, Checkout links, Widgets.
- Create selling plan form. Name “Subscribe and Save” (shown to customers), separate Internal name, Plan selector title “Frequency”, Priority 1.
- Order schedule. “Charge and deliver every 1 Month(s)”, plan name “Deliver every month”, plan dropdown label, discount type None → Percentage, discount value set to 10%.
- Advanced options. Minimum billing cycles Unset (“minimum billing cycles before the customer can cancel”), Maximum billing cycles Unlimited (“billing cycles after which the subscription automatically expires”), selling plan description field, “Apply same configuration for all frequencies”, “+ Add frequency”.
- Save. An “Unsaved changes / Discard / Save” bar appeared once values changed; the plan saved.
- Product mapping. After saving, the plan opened with tabs Configuration / Products / Availability. The Products tab initially read “No products found.” — products are a separate step after plan creation, not part of the create form.
- Select products modal. Three products selected: The Collection Snowboard: Liquid ($749.95), The Collection Snowboard: Oxygen ($1025.00), The Compare at Price Snowboard ($785.95). Modal footer stated: “3 selected. Only 250 variants can be mapped at once.”
- Confirmation. “Products added successfully” toast, then a modal: “Create your first subscription — Congratulations on completing the first step! You’re now ready for the next phase: creating your first subscription. After that, you can test subscription management both on the admin portal and the customer portal.”
ORIGINAL FINDING — in-product tier gating is visible inside the plan builder
Two controls in the selling-plan form were disabled and stamped with a plan-tier lock badge:
| Locked control | Badge | In-app explanatory text |
|---|---|---|
| “Is this a prepaid selling plan?” | PRO | “Prepaid selling plans are required when you want to bill your customers in advance for more than 1 delivery.” |
| “Do you charge on specific day of the week/month?” | STARTER | — |
Why this matters, and why it is the strongest finding in the review:
- It is hands-on confirmation that a free/unpaid tier exists and is usable, which the official
loopwork.co/pricingpage does not show. Even Starter-level controls were locked, so the store was on something below Starter. - It cross-verifies the pricing page independently: the pricing page lists “Prepaid & gifting” as a Pro feature, and the app locks prepaid behind a PRO badge. Two separate official surfaces agree.
- It gives a merchant something concrete: charging on a specific day of the week/month is not available without at least Starter ($99/mo), and that is a common real-world subscription requirement.
- Loop shows the boundary in-line, at the moment of use, rather than hiding it. That is a genuine usability positive and should be credited as such.
MUST CONFIRM with reviewer: the exact plan the Blinto Dev store is on. The lock badges strongly imply a free/unpaid tier, but the plan name was not captured on screen. Do not publish “we were on the free plan” until confirmed.
What was NOT tested
- The install flow (app was already installed).
- Loop widget installation — setup guide still showed “Install Loop widget (0 of 2 completed)”.
- Storefront rendering of the Subscribe & Save offer.
- Checkout, order placement, first charge, recurring charge, failed-payment retry/dunning.
- Creating a test subscription (the prompt was reached but not completed).
- Customer portal, cancellation flows, bundles, Build-a-Box, campaigns, flows, analytics, automation/workflows.
- Support responsiveness — Loop was never contacted.
- Migration, integrations, API/webhooks (API is Pro-gated).
- Store speed impact.
Testing limitations
Dev store with placeholder snowboard products and no real customers or payment history. High product prices ($749–$1025) are Shopify sample data, not representative of typical subscription merchandise.
Raw observations to confirm with reviewer
- Was the plan save instant / error-free?
- Anything confusing or slow?
- Was the “Products mapped: No products found” step expected, or did it read like the plan had failed?

Verified Pricing — official pricing page, reviewer screenshot, 2026-09-18
Page headline: “Scale your subscriptions. Not your fees.” Page subhead: “Transparent Loop Subscriptions pricing for Shopify — flat monthly plans, $0 per-order fees, free migration.”
| Plan | Positioning | Price | Transaction fee | Per-order fee | CTA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | For brands launching subscriptions | $99/month | 1.0% | $0 | Start 14 days free trial |
| Pro (marked BEST VALUE) | For brands scaling subscriptions | $399/month | 0.75% | $0 | Book a demo |
| Enterprise | For brands operating at scale | “Let’s talk” | Negotiable | $0 | Contact sales |
Starter — key features listed: Failed payment recovery; Cancellation prevention; Self-serve customer portal; Subscription bundles; Out-of-stock protection; 30+ integrations.
Pro — everything in Starter, plus: Dedicated CSM; Surprise & delight flows; Run targeted campaigns; Prepaid & gifting; Multi-language portal capability; API & webhooks access.
Enterprise — everything in Pro, plus: Volume-based pricing; Custom development; Custom contract terms; Tailored onboarding & support.
Pricing observations that matter to the verdict
- Entry cost is $99/month plus 1.0% of subscription transactions. The “$0 per-order fees” headline is accurate but does not mean zero variable cost — the percentage transaction fee is the variable cost.
- Moving Starter → Pro is a 4x jump in flat fee ($99 → $399) to cut the transaction rate by 0.25pp. The flat-fee increase only pays for itself at high subscription volume; below that, Pro is bought for its features, not its rate.
- API & webhooks access is gated to Pro. This independently matches a merchant complaint found in public review research (a merchant paying over $200/month reporting they could not get API access without Pro). Developer plan design and merchant frustration corroborate each other here.
- A 14-day free trial is offered on Starter. Pro and Enterprise route to sales rather than self-serve signup.
RESOLVED — free plan exists, but Loop’s own pricing page does not show it
The Shopify App Store listing states plainly: “Free plan available. Free trial available.”
The official loopwork.co/pricing page captured the same day shows only three plans — Starter $99/mo, Pro $399/mo, Enterprise — with no free tier anywhere on it.
Both captures are official Loop-controlled surfaces, taken on the same date, and they disagree about whether a merchant can use Loop for $0.
This is a genuine, merchant-relevant finding, not a research error. A merchant who evaluates Loop by visiting Loop’s own pricing page would reasonably conclude the entry price is $99/month plus 1.0%. The App Store listing says otherwise.
What is still NOT established:
- What the free plan actually includes or limits. Third-party sources claim “up to 50 active subscriptions”; that number is unverified and must not be published.
- Whether the free plan is a permanent tier or a promotional/legacy state.
- Whether the pricing page omits it deliberately (sales-led positioning) or the page is simply out of date.
Publishable as: the discrepancy itself, stated factually, with both sources dated. Not publishable: any specific free-plan limit, or any motive attributed to Loop.
Verified App Store Listing — reviewer screenshot, 2026-09-18
- App name as listed: Loop Subscriptions App
- Developer: Loop Solutions Inc
- Rating: 5.0 stars
- Review count: 759
- Pricing line: “Free plan available. Free trial available.”
- Languages: English (only language listed)
- Popular with stores like yours: “Based in United States”, “Shopify Plus”
- Demo store: a “View demo store” link is offered on the listing
- Install state in our capture: the primary button reads “Open”, not “Install” — the app was already installed on the reviewer’s store at capture time
Listing headline: “Boost Subscriber Growth with an All-In-One Subscription App for Smart Offers, Bundles & Cancel Flows”
Listing feature bullets (developer’s own wording):
- Automation & Workflows: Boost scale, save time & cut errors
- Subscription Bundles & Build-a-Box Options: Lift AOV & loyalty
- Cancellation Flows: Save at-risk subscribers & slash churn
- Customer Portal: Empower users to manage orders, swaps & skips
- Payment Recovery: Auto retries & dunning reclaim lost revenue
Not visible in the supplied capture — still unverified
- Built for Shopify badge: not visible in the cropped header. Do NOT state the app has or lacks the badge.
- Category as classified by Shopify.
- Launch date.
- Named integrations (pricing page claims “30+”; no names verified).
Listing observations that matter
- 759 reviews at a flat 5.0 is an unusually clean distribution for that volume. Worth stating as a fact; worth no speculation about why.
- English is the only listed language. Note the tension with the Pro plan’s “Multi-language portal capability” — these are different surfaces (app admin vs customer portal), so do not conflate them, but a non-English merchant should know the app itself is listed English-only.
- The listing markets heavily to Shopify Plus and US-based stores, consistent with the $99 price floor and the “brands operating at scale” framing.
Developer Claims
| Claim | Source | Verified? | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| “$0 per-order fees” | Official pricing page | Yes (as a statement on the page) | True as stated; percentage transaction fee still applies |
| “free migration” | Official pricing page subhead | Page states it | Scope/conditions of migration not verified |
| Flat monthly plans | Official pricing page | Yes | Plus transaction % |
| “2,400+ brands”, “$4B+ subscription revenue” | Loop marketing site via search | No | Marketing claim; do not repeat as fact |
| Cancellation flows with videos/GIFs and retention offers | Loop marketing site via search | No | Developer claim; test if reachable |
| Bundle builder, build-your-own bundles, tiered discounts | Loop marketing site via search | No | Developer claim |
| Passwordless-login customer portal | Loop marketing site via search | No | Developer claim |
| Dunning with “up to 15 intelligent retry attempts” | Loop marketing site via search | No | Developer claim; specific number unverified |
Merchant Feedback Patterns — UNVERIFIED sourcing, orientation only
Common positives reported: support quality and responsiveness; ease of use; breadth of customization aimed at churn reduction.
Common complaints / limitations reported:
- API access gated behind the Pro plan, raised by a merchant already paying over $200/month. Corroborated by the verified pricing page.
- API described as still evolving and not yet at parity with the web app features.
- Backup-card checking reported as manual rather than automatic.
- Cancellation-flow setup described as hard to understand in places.
- Repeatedly characterised as a weaker fit for small/early stores.
Sources reviewed: web search result summaries only. Individual reviews were not read directly because the App Store domain is blocked. No quotation may be published from this.
Missing Evidence / Questions
- What the free plan actually includes and limits.
- Built for Shopify badge status, category, launch date, named integrations.
- Everything hands-on — no testing has been performed yet.
Editorial Evaluation
Strengths
- pending testing
Limitations
- Entry price of $99/month + 1.0% is a high floor relative to several competing Shopify subscription apps (verified pricing; competitor comparison not yet verified).
- API and webhooks gated to the $399/month Pro tier (verified pricing, corroborated by merchant complaint pattern).
- pending testing
Best Fit

Poor Fit

Alternatives to Consider
Appstle Subscriptions and Kaching Subscriptions both have existing Blinto reviews in the Subscriptions category and are natural internal-link targets.
Claims We Must Not Make
- Do not publish any specific free-plan limit (e.g. “50 active subscriptions”) — unverified.
- Do not state whether the app has a Built for Shopify badge — not visible in the capture.
- Do not attribute a motive to the pricing page omitting the free plan.
- Do not repeat “2,400+ brands” or “$4B+ processed” as fact.
- Do not claim Loop reduces churn, improves retention, or recovers revenue — no test establishes an outcome.
- Do not describe support quality; Blinto has not contacted support.
- Do not quote or paraphrase any individual merchant review.
- Do not claim any feature works until it is tested or verified on an official source.

Authenticity scoring rule
Do not award authenticity or evidence points for work that was not actually tested or documented. Evidence/screenshots measures evidence visible to the merchant in the published article, not evidence held internally. A Level 1/2 review with no real hands-on screenshots rendered in the public article receives no more than 3/10 here, even when private evidence exists.
Interim projection — indicative only, not a score
Based on evidence in hand as of 2026-09-18, and assuming the draft is written to the standard of the existing Subscriptions reviews:
- Hands-on authenticity — currently constrained. A full plan-build workflow is documented, but the install flow was not observed, no storefront/checkout/billing was reached, and the account’s plan tier is still unconfirmed. Expect mid-range at Level 2, not a top score.
- Evidence/screenshots — hard blocker right now. Only the App Store listing exists as an actual file; every in-app screenshot was supplied inline and cannot be committed. Until those files are in
public/images/reviews/loop-subscriptions/and rendering in Content Preview, this category is capped at 3/10 and the review cannot reach 80. - Original findings — the strongest area. The in-product PRO/STARTER lock badges, the 250-variant mapping ceiling, and the free-tier discrepancy between the App Store listing and Loop’s own pricing page are genuine first-hand findings that no competing content currently carries.
- Research depth — limited by session egress policy blocking
apps.shopify.com,loopwork.coandhelp.loopwork.co. Partly offset by reviewer-supplied official captures, but no individual merchant reviews were read directly and no documentation was consulted. - Merchant usefulness / decision clarity — should score well; the article answers a concrete buying question with verified cost figures.
The two things that most raise the final score: confirming the account’s plan tier, and supplying the in-app screenshots as committed files.

SEO & Content Direction
- Target merchant: Shopify brand operating or planning recurring subscription revenue, evaluating whether Loop’s price floor is justified.
- Merchant problem: Subscription apps vary enormously in cost model; Loop charges a high flat fee plus a percentage, and the merchant needs to know what that buys.
- Primary search intent: commercial investigation — “is Loop Subscriptions worth it / Loop Subscriptions review / Loop Subscriptions pricing”.
- Primary keyword/topic: Loop Subscriptions review.
- Secondary topics: Loop Subscriptions pricing, Loop vs Appstle, Shopify subscription app cost, subscription churn tooling.
- Blinto differentiated angle: most public content about Loop is written by Loop. A hands-on test plus an honest reading of the real cost structure (flat fee + transaction % + Pro-gated API) is genuinely differentiated.
- Internal links:
reviews/appstle-subscriptions.md,reviews/kaching-subscriptions.md(same category). - CTA direction: pending.
- Required disclosures: testing level; that pricing was verified from the official pricing page on 2026-09-18; that support was not contacted.

Verification Round 3 — Shopify App Store listing, fetched 2026-09-22
Egress to apps.shopify.com succeeded this session. The following are VERIFIED from the official Shopify App Store listing on 2026-09-22 and close three previously open blockers.
Listing metadata (previously missing)
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Built for Shopify badge | Yes — listing carries the badge |
| Launched | 27 July 2021 |
| Categories | Subscriptions; Product bundles |
| Rating / reviews | 5.0 stars, 762 reviews (was 759 on 2026-09-18) |
| Languages | English only |
| Integrations | 35+ apps, incl. Klaviyo, Attentive, Gorgias, Rebuy, Smile, Stamped; works with Checkout and Customer accounts |
RESOLVED — the free plan and its exact limit
The App Store Pricing tab lists a Free plan capped at 50 active subscriptions, including the mobile-friendly customer portal and analytics. The 14-day free trial applies to the paid plans, not to Free.
This supersedes the earlier “unverified third-party 50-subscription figure” note: the figure is now confirmed on Loop’s own App Store listing and is publishable, attributed to the listing and dated.
App Store pricing tab, verified 2026-09-22:
| Plan | Price | Transaction fee |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | — (50 active subscriptions) |
| Starter | $99/month | 1.0% + 0¢ per transaction |
| Pro | $399/month | 0.75% + 0¢ per transaction |
The listing’s Starter and Pro figures match the loopwork.co/pricing capture from 2026-09-18 exactly. The discrepancy is therefore narrower than first recorded: it is not a pricing conflict, it is a surface omission — the free tier is absent from Loop’s own pricing page while present on its App Store listing.
Publishable as: the free plan exists and is capped at 50 active subscriptions; Loop’s marketing pricing page does not show it. Still not publishable: any motive for the omission.
RESOLVED — test store plan tier
Reviewer confirmed 2026-09-22: testing was performed on the Free plan on a Shopify development store. This is consistent with the observed lock badges — both a STARTER-gated and a PRO-gated control were locked, which is only possible below Starter. “We tested on the Free plan” is now publishable.
Merchant feedback — dated App Store reviews, verified 2026-09-22
These are third-party merchant statements, not Blinto findings. Publish as reported sentiment only, never as tested fact.
Negative patterns (1–3 star reviews):
| Date | Store / country | Substance |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-09-18 | Vytalise UK, UK — 11 months | Support “not very forthcoming with solutions”; agent described as disinterested; Klaviyo integration issue unresolved |
| 2026-07-01 (edited) | The Dalston Egg Shop, UK — 2+ years | “Anchor day” functionality limited with development stagnated; “frustrating gaps in the capability afforded by the API” — cannot apply shipping discounts or modify charge offsets |
| 2026-04-29 | GENVEX, Hong Kong SAR — ~1 month | “Super slow replies from support — have to wait 1-2 days” |
| 2025-12-18 | SQUEEZIES, Lithuania — 4 months | Cancellation required contacting support; charges reportedly continued 3 months |
| 2024-10-30 | My Store, US — 2 hours | Manual install problems; told to “find a developer” |
| 2024-09-27 | Magic T, New Zealand — 3 months | Support contingent on paid plans; free users received no assistance. Uninstall left code in theme |
| 2021-09-08 | The Modern Silo, US — 6 days | “NO customer service”; calls scheduled at unworkable hours. Developer replied documenting three missed calls |
Positive patterns (5-star reviews, ~98% of total): migration from a competing platform handled with a pre-migration plan (RONE Nutrition, 28 days; Hyggelight, ~1 month); named onboarding and support staff praised repeatedly (biom, ~2 years — “Aadi… walked us through step by step”; Pet Gently, UK, 6 months — “Kashish”); widget customization (Rüted Formulas, 27 days); analytics; reduced support load from the self-serve portal (Sweet Bloom Coffee, 11 months).
CROSS-EVIDENCE — two independent confirmations of our hands-on finding
This is the strongest original contribution in the review and should lead the limitations section.
- Anchor day. Our test found “Do you charge on specific day of the week/month?” locked behind a STARTER badge. A merchant of 2+ years independently reports anchor-day functionality as limited and stagnant. Our screenshot shows the paywall; their review shows that paying for it does not fully solve it. Neither source alone says that.
- API access. Our pricing capture shows API & webhooks gated to Pro. The same merchant reports gaps in API capability, and an earlier merchant reported being unable to get API access below Pro. Developer plan design and merchant frustration corroborate.
- Free-tier support. A merchant reports free users received no support. Our test store was on Free and never contacted support, so Blinto cannot confirm this. Report as merchant sentiment only.
Remaining gap — images
Unchanged and still the only hard blocker. In-app screenshots were supplied inline and are not committed. Required as files under public/images/reviews/loop-subscriptions/ before the review can publish.
