Human Testing & Evidence
Testing level
- Level 1 — Full Hands-On Test (install → account → onboarding → inbox wizard → embed → automation → storefront AI conversations → inbox)
Merchant decision question: Does Commslayer’s free helpdesk work end to end on Shopify, and can its AI agent answer a basic catalogue question correctly?

What was not tested
- Email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok channels; comment moderation
- Order editing, refunds, cancellations; customer portal / help center
- Subscription integrations; Klaviyo panel; reports
- The MCP connection itself
- AI guidance/training before the question; approval-mode behaviour in detail
- Paid plans, trials, billing; mobile
Testing limitations
- Ticket #1’s “$1.75 cheapest” reply was sent from the agent account (grey bubble, “M” avatar), not by the AI agent (purple bubble, AI logo). Whether it was typed or an AI draft is unrecorded, so it is excluded from the article. Ask Munna.
- The AI agent displays as “munna”; who named it is not recorded. The article says “shown in the widget as ‘munna’”.
- “waited for approval” appears in the action log, yet the reply reached the storefront within two minutes; whether a human approved it is not recorded. The article quotes the log line without interpreting it.
- The “munna-inbox” disconnected banner refers to an inbox other than the connected Nestly chat inbox; its origin is not recorded. The article treats it as a second, unfinished inbox and says so.
- The Base Rule shows “Created on Oct 7, 2026”, earlier than the Oct 13 conversations; not material.
- The $1.18 item being the cheapest in the catalogue rests on the Tidio and Zipchat research (same store) and the visible grid.

Merchant Feedback Patterns
Positives (Sep–Oct 2026): “incredible value and always innovating”; “the best alternative to Gorgias”; Claude/MCP connection “incredible”; comment moderation works; responsive team; AI agent “easy to train” (one merchant).
Criticism (1–3-star feed, mostly with co-founder replies):
- BUYBARBER.COM (US, 3 days), Aug 11 2026: onboarding call no-show; reply cited a time-zone mix-up.
- Abbreviated (US, 9 months), edited Aug 30 2026: AI agent “VERY weak”, “makes a lot of mistakes”, ignores instructions; many places to configure guidance.
- The Mushroom Barn (UK, 8 months), May 22 2026: AI poor at consistency and pulling docs; reply suggested data sync issues.
- Schuhbidu24 (Germany), Dec 12 2025: Microsoft 365 requires disabling spam protection; AI-only support reply.
- Everything Smart Technology (UK, ~2 months), Dec 4 2025: missing pending status, ticket deletion, portal, filters; stripped attachments; high memory; R/E shortcut; feedback board ignored. Detailed co-founder reply.
- SnoreSolvers (Sweden, 4 months), Nov 17 2025: unanswered email for a week.
- Unnamed (edited Apr 13 2026): email configuration problems; “only bots” in support.
Interpretation boundary: ~3% of ratings at three stars or below. None reproduced. Our AI result is consistent with the AI-quality complaints.
Missing Evidence / Questions
- Ticket #1’s “$1.75 cheapest” reply — typed by Munna, or an AI draft he sent?
- Was the AI reply in #5 approved manually (“waited for approval”)?
- What is “munna-inbox”?
- Would guidance via “Add new guidance” fix the answer?
- Munna’s own impressions.
- ClickUp task URL.
Editorial Evaluation
Strengths: free helpdesk with unlimited agents; clear inbox wizard; one-toggle embed; visual automations; capable inbox with approval queue; MCP; low paid prices.
Limitations: AI missed the catalogue question; long account-based setup; placeholder preview text; padlocked tools; sourced AI and support complaints.
Best fit: Small and growing stores wanting a multi-channel helpdesk free or cheaply; multi-agent teams; social sellers; Claude/ChatGPT users.
Poor fit: Stores needing an accurate AI agent out of the box; merchants wanting a five-minute widget.
Claims We Must Not Make
- Do not attribute ticket #1’s $1.75 reply to the AI.
- Do not say the AI cannot read prices (it gave them on follow-up).
- Do not claim channels, moderation, order editing, refunds, portal, subscriptions, reports or MCP work.
- Do not explain “waited for approval” or the disconnected inbox beyond what is shown.
- Do not present sourced complaints as reproduced; do not rank on single questions.

Status: 90–100 — Strong, publishable. Scored 2026-10-13. Clears the 81+ auto-approval threshold in AGENTS.md §10. Provisional until Munna’s fact-check is complete.
Editorial Verdict Lock
- Verdict locked: Pending Munna’s fact-check.
- Decision: Recommended for stores wanting a generous multi-channel helpdesk that will train the AI agent before trusting it with shoppers.
Founder Intelligence — Internal
- Exceptional: free plan with unlimited agents; clean inbox wizard; visual automations; MCP with practical prompts.
- Friction: AI agent does not answer price-comparison questions from synced catalogue data; separate account and email activation; placeholder agent count in preview; disconnected-inbox banner persists across views.
- Opportunities: structured catalogue queries (min/max price) for the AI; replace preview sample data with real counts; Shopify-login onboarding.
- Questions for the founder: Why did the agent report pricing as unavailable on the first turn? What does “waited for approval” mean in default mode?
- Blinto fit: AI capability opportunity on top of a strong helpdesk foundation.

Thumbnail Concept and Generation Prompt
Concept: A busy sunlit post office with many open sorting windows and clerks — a generous, well-staffed front desk — while one clerk at the end hesitates over a price ledger instead of answering. Reads as “a big, free front desk; the assistant still needs training.”
Prompt:
Generate a single image and export it as a PNG file, 16:9 landscape, 1792×1024 pixels or larger.
This must look like a soft, hazy, atmospheric vintage oil painting — NOT a sharp digital illustration. Softness and abstraction are the most important requirement.
Style: a sun-bleached impressionist oil painting on rough canvas, in the manner of a faded plate from an old art book. Thick, loose, visible impasto brushstrokes everywhere, including the foreground. Strong canvas texture and pigment variation across the whole surface. Low contrast, high-key light: warm cream, ivory, pale ochre, dusty gold, muted olive, soft grey-blue. No pure blacks, no deep shadows, no saturated colour. Everything slightly out of focus, as if seen through warm afternoon haze; edges lost and found, silhouettes soft, forms suggested rather than drawn.
Scene: inside a grand, sunlit old post office hall, a long wooden counter with many open service windows stretches into the distance, each with a small clerk figure helping a customer, and bundles of letters and parcels flowing along the counter. At the nearest window, one clerk pauses with an open ledger, turning the pages uncertainly while a customer waits. All figures are small, with no facial detail; the hall dissolves into broad blurred masses of colour.
Sky: through tall arched windows high in the hall, in the upper background, a large soft rounded speech-bubble shape formed from haze and cloud glows in pale pastel teal, around a fifth of the canvas width — feathered edges, varied opacity, painted with the same loose brushwork, discovered in the clouds rather than placed on top, never a logo or a clean outline.
Depth: foreground moderately soft, middle ground much softer, background almost abstract colour fields.
Strict rules: no text, no letters, no numbers, no logos, no signage, no writing on the ledger, letters or parcels, no UI elements, no screens, no phones, no watermark, no signature. No photorealism, no 3D render, no glossy digital painting, no fine detail, no sharp edges anywhere, no faces with detail. Wide composition with generous empty space left and right so the image crops safely.
Output format: PNG.
Source colour note: Commslayer’s icon is a black rounded-tile character and its default widget is dark teal with a chat-bubble launcher; the emblem uses the bubble shape in pastel teal (black cannot carry a pastel emblem). Distinct from Chatty’s lavender bubble.
